Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a former boyfriend (a journalist whom she refuses to name) who broke Amy's heart.
  • This was a released as a double A-sided single in the UK along with "In My Bed."
  • In concerts, Amy has been known to dedicate this to "anyone who ever loved someone that didn't love you back." She confessed to Mojo magazine January 2008 that she sometimes finds this a difficult song to sing: "Music is something in my life where I can be completely honest, to the point where some of the songs I don't want to sing sometimes, 'cause they're so raw. You Send Me Flying, it's deep, I was in love, and it hurts me when I sing certain lyrics."
  • Frank is a reference to the singer Frank Sinatra. The album contains a number of tracks, including this one, that are about her former journalist boyfriend. It was released in America in 2007 following the success of Winehouse's Back to Black album.
