Songfacts®:

  • Grammer wrote this song about his mother, who passed away from breast cancer in 2008 when Andy was 25 years old. He calls it "A really sweet song about her."

The track "Ladies" from Grammer's 2011 self-titled debut album, was also inspired by the loss of his mom.
  • In our interview with Andy Grammer, he said: "'Sinner' is one of my favorite lyrics, especially the verse lyrics are really cool to me. Just about trying to have some sort of relationship with someone who has passed away. It's weird. Like mystic and cosmic and who the hell knows how to do it. Nobody."
  • This track was produced by Ayb Asmar along with the Norwegian production duo Espionage (Espen Lind and Amund Bjørklund).
