  • The title track of Bedouin Soundclash's sixth studio album finds frontman Jay Malinowski questioning where he belongs and deciding to make a change. He explained in a track-by-track commentary:

"One day someone tells you, 'You know, you've got a lot of stuff you don't need here...' and as they look around your apartment they say, 'Do you still want to live here in this place?' You pause and think about it. No, you haven't wanted to live here for a long time. You wouldn't have listened to anyone else, but you listen to this person. So you put the place up for sale and you swim up to the sky in the calm of a hurricane eye."
  • Bedouin Soundclash formed as a reggae-ska band in 2001 and has since experimented with a number of different styles. Their 2019 album, Mass, was an ambitious collaboration with the New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which brought a 13-piece horn section, strings, percussionists, and other elements to the mix.

According to Malinowski, We Will Meet In A Hurricane marks "a spiritual return to a foundational past," going back to when he and his bandmate Eon Sinclair were just "two kids with guitars in a bedroom figuring out some songs."

He continued: "We decided to simplify and reconnect with what inspired us. We kept the ingredients limited, the palate simple. We went back to our beginnings and rediscovered the joy of just playing on an acoustic, and a bass through a small amp, with a vocal. We spent our days like we used to when we were younger. We hung out and talked about music. If it was sunny we went to the beach. We played some tennis. Then in the afternoon we might play through some ideas. If it sounded good in the front room of the house, we took it to the studio."
