Songfacts®:

  • This was featured in the movie Don Juan DeMarco, starring Johnny Depp. It was the last of three huge hits Adams did for movies. In 1991, he recorded "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" for Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, and in 1993 he sang with Rod Stewart and Sting on "All For Love" for The 3 Musketeers.
  • In the US, this was a #1 hit for five weeks.
  • Paco De Lucia played the Flamenco guitar. He comes from a Spanish family famous for their guitarists, and has also worked with Chick Corea.
  • Various women's groups contacted Adams when this came out, which led to his publishing a book of photos featuring Canadian women, with proceeds going to breast cancer research. Some of the women in the 1999 book are Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette, Celine Dion, and Neve Campbell.
  • This was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song, but lost to "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas.

  • Lynette from Wagoner, OkLove this song, during my lifetime I have had two men love me the way this song describes. One was killed in an auto crash as a young man, it took many years for my heart to heal and I still miss him and think of him every day, my love for him is never-ending.
The second man to love me like this became my husband, twice. While we loved each other very much it became harder instead of easy as it once was. Unfortunately, nothing we did could repair us. He died of medical problems in 2021. I'm sure we still loved each other, even though we hadn't seen each other for some time...
  • Rahul from Chennai, Indiahmmm.... i admire bryan's ability to record radio hits..... woow..... and this song... yeah its very simple but i don't think anybody else in the world wud have been able to record such a wonderful tune.....

  • Tony from Red Deer, AbExcellent guitar work, otherwise a generally weepy, sappy song.
  • Michaela from Brooklyn, NyYes!I agreee Hector!
  • Joanna from KielceHe plays it in "The House of fools", where he also play a part. Good film - I recommend it
  • Craig from Madison, WiOh good lord this is a bad song. I now know that when travelling overseas all I have to do to impress a woman is to say that I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really love them. Then they will be mine. Really this song could use about 250 more really's in it and then it would have the lyrical power.
  • Baki from Perth, AustraliaOMG what a song! Its gorgeous, its just simple - and it very effective!
  • Ana from Lokev, Europepure lyrics: a perfect sample how to write the simple truth in just few lines! bryan is very good at writing.
  • Oscar from Mexico, MexicoYeah, one of the most beautiful songs I´ve ever heard, even here in Mexico, we have a folk version with "mariachi", which was as successful as the original one.
  • Bunny from Oz, AustraliaOkay, how wrong could you be!! Honestly!! Bryan had a friend that was dying of breast cancer so he got the idea to raise money for the cause. She, Donna, is on the front cover - "Made in Canada". He then went on to do one in the uk for the Haven breast cancer charity called "Haven". He has just finished another one with Calvin Klein with US women. Hope this clears things up for u. Check out bryanadams.com it has the books there.
  • Pavitra from Cape Town, South AfricaTruly one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
  • Hector from Duarte, OtherThis is one of the best compliments that one can ever say to a woman.
