Songfacts®:

  • Burna Boy recorded "Alone" for the soundtrack of Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie. The song finds the singer feeling tired, vulnerable, and alone. He cries for help, but nobody is listening and all he can do is find solace in his memories of better days.
  • Burna Boy wrote the song with Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson and Nigerian producer P.Priime. Göransson won an Academy Award for Best Original Score for the original Black Panther film. He also scored the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Priime and Göransson co-produced three of the songs on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack: "Alone," "Anya Mmiri" by CKay ft. PinkPantheress, and "Coming Back For You" by Fireboy DML.
  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever starts with the death of T'Challa, king of Wakanda. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, their heroes fight to protect their land from intervening world powers. Göransson wanted only to include songs that connected to the story on the soundtrack. "Alone," which plays early on, encapsulates the grieving mood after the passing of the Wakanda king.
