  • This song is about a suicide attempt Liz, the sister of Eels mainman Mark Everett, made a few months after their father died of a heart attack in 1982. Mark found her on the bathroom floor and was able to get help in time. Liz made eight more suicide attempts, succeeding with her ninth one in 1996.
