Songfacts®:

  • This emotive banger finds Fredo reuniting with Dave for the first time since their chart-topping collaboration "Funky Friday." Fredo talks about how money has not bought him happiness, instead it has contributed to the pain in his life. Dave's cold verse highlights the rules of the hood in his home district of Streatham Vale in South London.
  • The 17-year-old London producer BPM supplied the beat. The track represented his first placement on a chart hit.
  • The music video was shot by London-born director KLVDR, who has also helmed clips for the likes of Krept & Konan, YXNG Bane and Mahalia. The visual draws on Fredo's upbringing on Westminster's Mozart Estate, as well as chronicling the reality of life for many inner city young black males.
  • This should not be confused with Fredo Santana's song also titled "All I Ever Wanted." That track was recorded by the late American rapper for his 2014 album Walking Legend.
