Songfacts®:

  • G.R.L are a girl group formed by Pussycat Dolls choreographer Robin Antin. This is the lead single from their debut self-titled EP.
  • G.R.L are signed to Kemosabe Records, so it's no surprise to find the label's founder, Dr. Luke, co-produced the song along with his frequent collaborator Cirkut.
  • The track is about a good-looking guy who treats his women in an ugly manner. "What we're saying to all the young girls - and even the young guys out there - is: You should have high standards," G.R.L's Simone Battle explained to Digital Spy. "Look for someone who is going to love, respect and cherish you. Not somebody who's just good looking."
  • G.R.L. founder member Simone Battle was found dead at her home in Los Angeles on September 5, 2014. Her death was ruled a suicide by hanging by Los Angeles authorities. Battle was recruited by Robin Antin to join the group after being a finalist on The X Factor USA in 2011.
