Songfacts®:

  • Delivered in spoken word, "No S--t" is the first track on Pop's Avenue B album. It opens with nearly 40 seconds of continuous, tragic-sounding violin. Pop then talks for a minute about the thoughts he's having in the "winter" of his 50th year. He talks about valuing tenderness and intellect more than ever before in his life, but finishes up the track by saying that, as he nears his death, the thing he wants most of all is not "take any more s--t... not from anybody."
  • The spoken word piece sets the tone for the rest of the album, which is largely full of Pop's reflections on aging, on his relationships, integrity, and regrets, and his mortality.
