Songfacts®:

  • This R&B/pop/rock fusion is the second single from R&B singer-songwriter Jason DeRulo's self-titled debut album. In this song DeRulo imagines what he wants to happen with a female clubgoer.
  • This is the follow-up to DeRulo's chart-topping debut single, "Whatcha Say." Both songs were produced by his label head J.R. Rotem. Derulo told CHCH that he admires Rotem's ability to view the industry as both a musician and a fan. He explained: "J.R. has great Pop sensibility. As musicians we tend to get caught up with our work and our style or craft, but he's also able to take the point of view as a fan, and hear the song from that perspective."
  • DeRulo told USA Today: "I never write songs down - I feel like the pen dilutes the music. I get a concept, go into the booth and just start singing. I start off with a melody and then figure out the words to match."
  • When this topped Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, following "Whatcha Say," DeRulo became the first solo male to notch consecutive #1s with his first two entries in the survey's 17-year history.
  • The song's music video was filmed in late December 2009 and directed by Kai Crawford. The clip is intended to be an homage to Justin Timberlake's Diane Martel-helmed promo for "Like I Love You." Crawford told MTV News the concept was the "party after the party" in the parking lot.
