Songfacts®:

  • British house music singer Kyla had a minor hit in 2008 with this funky-bassline tune where she seduces a guy. She's quite polite about her advances, asking him if he minds her taking him home tonight.
  • Crazy Cousinz, a production team comprising Paleface (Errol Reid) and his cousin Fluke (Luke Reid), produced the track. "The lyrics was me and Paleface," Kyla told The Quietus. "When we got into the studio we were just vibeing, we'd already done one track called 'Think About You' and we were just joking about going 'Do you mind?' and it turned into a song."
  • Shortly after dropping the tune, Kyla married Paleface and started a family. Eight years later, Drake's production team contacted the British singer regarding the use of "Do You Mind" for a track he wanted to record with the Nigerian artist Wizkid. "One Dance" became an international hit with Kyla credited as a featured artist, so she rebooted her career.
  • In 2022 English rapper ArrDee released "Hello Mate," which is centered on the chorus of "Do You Mind."
