  • Rimes wrote with this song with her former husband, the dancer Dean Sheremet. The couple split in 2009, after it was revealed that Rimes was having an affair with the actor Eddie Cibrian. The Country star revealed during an appearance on Chelsea Handler's talk show Chelsea Lately that she specifically chose this songs written with Sheremet during their relationship to be included on Spitfire. She said: "I did write a song with my ex-husband - that was, like, seven and a half years ago... It just kind of fit the story of the record. It was actually supposed to be on a different record before and we pulled it off, and then it just worked for this record. I didn't have to, like, approve it or anything. I think he approves."
  • Rimes performed this at the ASCAP Music Cafe at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010, where she told the audience the song was inspired by her friend's divorce. "A friend of mine got divorced... and the guy turned into a real asshole and we wanted to kill him," she explained. "Everyone gets their heart broken and wants revenge. Sometimes we sit around drinking wine and talk about it, but this song is for everyone who wants to finally get that revenge."
  • Rimes was a country star long before she met Sheremet; she was just 13 years old when she released her acclaimed debut album, Blue, in 1996. But the former backup dancer claims their split marked the death knell for her career. "The dumbest thing she ever did for her career was divorce me... Because we were such a good team," he claimed in a 2015 tell-all interview with Natalie Thomas. "The last hit song she had was when she was with me. It was 'Nothin' Better To Do.'"
  • Spitfire peaked at #36 in the US, where it also went to #9 on the Top Country Albums chart. In the UK, it peaked at #3 on the Country Albums chart.
