Songfacts®:

  • This is a medley of two songs. "Mad Mad World" was originally the title track of Canadian singer-songwriter Tom Cochrane's 1991 album. "The Good God…" was penned for Hell In a Handbasket by Meat Loaf's guitarist Paul Crook.
  • The song features a contribution from Chuck D. The Public Enemy leader came through Anthrax's Scott Ian, who is Meat Loaf's son-in-law. (Anthrax teamed up with Chuck D for one of the first rap-rock collaborations, 1991's "Bring The Noise.") "(D) was going to do one thing, and he came back and did something else and we flipped out," Meat Loaf told Billboard magazine.
