Songfacts®:

  • This duet with Meghan Trainor was penned by the "All About That Bass" songstress with One Direction's Harry Styles. Speaking to UK newspaper The Sun, Trainor discussed the writing process behind their love song.

"It's a beautiful song we wrote together on my ukulele. "We even recorded a rough demo together with our vocals together. It's a cute acoustic love thing. It's one of the first cool things I got to do with a popstar."

She added: "I was worried he'd just be a 20-year-old boy. So I walked in with a prepared verse and chorus. But he gave me very poetic, mature lyrics. I was like, 'Well, damn, Harry, you know what love is.'"
  • Trainor and Styles penned the song at the time when "All About That Bass" was getting millions of views. She recalled to MTV UK:

"He heard the song and was apparently a fan and a mutual friend told me he wanted to write with me and so, I cleared my entire night that day and said I would love to write with him.

"I was very nervous so I prepared a little chorus on my ukulele and I walked in and in five minutes, I felt very comfortable because he was very normal and funny and just a regular 20-year old dude…. not like the Harry Styles who everyone is in love with.

"We finished the song in an hour or two and I love it. I was nervous 'cause I thought he'd be like a Justin Bieber, like 'he's so famous' and love himself, but he was just so normal... I immediately wasn't nervous any more."
  • "Someday" marks the first time Bublé has recorded an original song not written by himself.
