  • This is the first single from New Kids On The Block's sixth studio album, Ten, their first long player since 2008's The Block. "Sonically, ['Remix' is] sort of out there; it's more a fun song," Donnie Wahlberg told MTV News. "It's a little more retro [and] it kicks the doors open. We haven't put an album out in five years, so we wanted to come back with something that had a lot of energy and spirit and while it is sort of a unique sound to the album, what's not unique about it and what's consistent throughout the whole album is our passion and commitment to the song."
  • The song's music video was directed by Rami Hachache. It tells the story of "lonely and awkward wallflower" SunnyD, played by Artemis Pebdani (Modern Family, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) who blossoms after hearing new music by house band NKOTB at a dance party. Donnie Wahlberg explained to MTV News: "The story of the video is about, it's about someone becoming at peace with their inner beauty. Some people might hear the song and think it's obvious what it might be for the video. Maybe it's about a beautiful girl walking down the runway or a guy stopping and gawking at a beautiful girl, but it's about someone who feels beautiful with who they are and is willing to celebrate that for all the world to see."

    "It's about a turn around," Joey McIntyre added. "Whoever we're talking about is making that turn around. It's the song after someone says 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it.' And this is their celebration."
  • Most of the tracks on 10 were produced by the five-person Danish production/songwriting team Deekay, who have also worked with artists like Diddy, Fat Joe, Orianthi, Ashley Tisdale and JLS. Jordan Knight told Billboard magazine that after hearing one instrumental from Deekay (which would eventually turn into this song,) the New Kids "met up with those guys and started searching their hard drive for music."
