  • The Pixies announced on June 14, 2013 that Kim Deal had left the band. Two weeks later, the band surprised their fans by releasing his new song as a free download via their website. It was Pixies first new music since their 2004 download-only single, "Bam Thwok."
  • Though the backing vocals sound like Kim Deal, they actually were done by Bunnies singer Jeremy Dubs. The vocalist used to be with The Bennies, a group that toured with the Pixies and Frank Black in the past. Frontman Black Francis wrote on the frankblack.net forum: "I agree, it does sound a bit like Kim. But it's my good friend Jeremy Dubs, one of the best people I've had the pleasure to know, both socially and professionally."
  • Black Francis said in a statement "The lyrics, coincidentally, were composed at a Starbucks Coffee in Harvard Square in Cambridge, about a hundred feet from where, 25 years ago, I composed some of the lyrics to an old Pixies song called 'Break My Body." (A track from Pixies' debut Surfer Rosa album).
  • Black Francis had the music for this song in his back pocket for several years before it got recorded. He explained: "There are some demos I made with Joey and David a few years ago in Los Angeles, related to a film idea that still has yet to see the light of day, although work on the music continued. So a lot of the musical idea had been kicking around for a while. It's pretty simple, kind of a blues-based, two-note kind of thing, really."
  • Black Francis noted to Q magazine how this feral track prompted various acquaintances to contact him. They were concerned the song was actually about them, and their respective drug habits. "I had to assure them," he chuckled, "that the narratives in the song in fact predated their own birth."
