Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Seal singing of a woman who grabs his attention at a club. "It's that moment when you see a woman dancing and everyone and everything turns to black and white," he told Billboard magazine. "She's in color moving in a way that seduces you. 'Life on the Dancefloor' is everything you want to say to her but the music is too loud, so when she calls you over to dance you go and the movements you make together say it all."
  • The song is a track from 7, an album which finds Seal reuniting with the legendary producer Trevor Horn. It is the pair's first collection of original material since 2003, having previously created such defining hits as "Crazy" and "Kiss From A Rose".

This track features additional production from British deep house producer and DJ Jimpster (real name Jamie Odell).
