Songfacts®:

  • The Script are an Irish trio consisting of Glen Power (drums and acoustic guitar), Mark Sheehan (guitar and vocals) and Danny O'Donaghue (keyboards and lead vocals).
Danny O'Donoghue explained to Digital Spy about the band's name: "Well, coming from Ireland we're definitely big storytellers - our songs tend to have a beginning, a middle and an end, with lots of plot and characters in between. They're almost like mini movies in a way!"
  • O'Donoghue told BBC News about this socially conscious song with various despairing characters such as a teenage single mother and a drug addict: "There is not a lot of hope in the song. But out of all the things that have gone wrong in our lives, the message is 'together we cry.' As long as we're here together we can find a way to share the burden."
