Songfacts®:

  • Rhett penned this drunken waltz with Barry Dean and Jimmy Robbins. He wrote it for all those people who get put down for wanting to have a good time. Rhett recalled: "I have never been carried out of a bar, but ironically after writing this song, I was hanging out in Rhode Island on a day off on the road when something crazy happened. I went into this old bar and it turned out it was one of the oldest bars in America. I hung out for while before the waitress told me they didn't get people 'like us' up in that bar and she handed us the check. I was confused about what she meant about 'people like us.' Oh well. Sorry for partying, Miss."
