Songfacts®:

  • Sam Harris sings here about exposing all his flaws to someone close to him and being totally truthful. He explained in a track-by-track commentary: "It's a song about doing exactly that; just laying it all out on the table. And it's not necessarily about being, you know, I want to be naked with you, like you're my lover, but it's you're my friend, I want to be honest with you, I want to be real with you."
  • Harris told the story of the song to Pop Monitor: "It started with a drum beat that Adam (Levin) had and some saxophone that I recorded and it was such a cool groove. I worked on it for so f---ing long and finally came up with the title. It wrote itself from there."
