Songfacts®:

  • This contemplative track features both Kanye West and Nas. Asked by Billboard magazine how he ended up putting the pair on a record, Montana replied: "Actually, me and Kanye was working on a bunch of records. Then me and Nas was working on a record for his movie [The Land.]"
  • This is not the first collaboration between French Montana and Kanye West, the two collaborated with several others to create Yeezy's track, "All Day".
  • Montana reflects during his verse to reflect on the death of his friend, the late Coke Boys rapper Chinx and the incarceration of his former business partner Max B. The Harlem rapper began serving a 75-year prison sentence in 2009 for charges of conspiracy to armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated assault. The mixtape title of Wave Gods is a reference to Max B's signature word "wavy."
  • The Eif Rivera-directed visual features French Montana, Kanye West and Nas trading bars at the Mojave Air and Space Port in California. The clip is full of product placement - Beats by Dre, Ciroc, KandyPens and Hype Energy all get a nod.
